When Hiro tries to escape, Di incites Karmi to attack him, but Hiro finds a way to persuade Karmi to resist Di's control and helps her regain some of her consciousness. When Hiro tries to comfort her over the matter, Karmi is genuinely appreciative, hinting at a softening relationship between the two (they both pull away in disgust upon realizing how kindly they're treating each other). After she moved away from San Fransokyo, Karmi started to lose interest in Captain Cutie as her crush, instead realizing that she developed romantic feelings towards Hiro as she even watched on her laptop how Hiro gave a speech honoring his deceased brother, accepting his brother's graduation diploma at SFIT. FANON " I'll get Captain Cutie to safety," yelled Karmi taking Hiro into a nearby empty building. HumanMutant (briefly) Trengrove then appeared, taking selfies with students. Meanwhile, Hiro showed his rushed project that failed quickly, then Karmi shot photos of him and later sent it to people to ridicule him. However, Hiro discovers that Karmi has a crush on his superhero identity. However, much of her fanfiction proved useful to the team. She is also a talented artist, having sketched Hiro's alter-ego in great detail at one point. This may be the point at which the two officially become friends. Hiro actually consults his friends on why Karmi is unable to recognize him when suited up. On the other hand, Hiro also constantly crossed paths with Karmi as his alter-ego, which showed a completely different side of her than the one Hiro already knew due to her acting excited and happy to see him. Lacking social skills or friends of any kind, Karmi is fiercely devoted to her schoolwork, and recreational obsessions like Big Hero 6, a superhero team headed by Karmi's crush, "Captain Cutie". Karmi, along with Hiro Hamada, is the youngest genius at San Fransokyo Tech. By the time of the events of "City of Monsters", Karmi and Hiro had become friendlier to each other, but it was then that San Fransokyo was attacked by monsters and Karmi herself was mutated into one, so Karmi's parents were too worried for her safety and decided to move away immediately as things were becoming too dangerous, giving her no time to say goodbye to Hiro or explain it to him, which made him very, very sad. Next day at the Institute's cafeteria Hiro tried to talk to Karmi about not revealing his identity but, fortunately, Karmi did not realize Hiro's secret and failed to see the resemblance between her crush and Hiro. The rest of the episode consists of her only appearing in her chibi form, her voice being dubbed over in Hiro's attempts at writing a story by everyone else (Hiro, Honey Lemon, Go Go, Baymax, Wasabi, and Fred, in that order).
